When new enemies appear, an old enemy becomes a friend…
and former allies turn deadly.

With the dust from their last mission still clinging to their heels, the Commando team travels to Planet Horus, answering the summons of famed Navy Chief Admiral Gray Jack Dundee. This would be nerve-wracking under the best of circumstances, but it’s especially so for former Arcturian Admiral Varn Tarl Sogan. Dundee was his opposite number during the Great War.

Dundee has a mission: the Pirate Stars have been increasing their power, destroying entire colonies with their devastating raids. The pirates have stolen and refitted a battleship, so the Commandos must first destroy that ship, then take out the pirate base.

The first surprise: the colonies begging for help are all Arcturian.

The greater surprise: for this mission, Dundee wants Varn to captain his flagship.

A command like this is everything Varn’s hungered for, but it may also be the last thing he does. Attacking the pirate base is very nearly a suicide mission, and  even if he survives, there are four Arcturians staking out Horus for their former admiral. They hate what he’s become, and they have orders to kill.
