John Thomas Rourke's world is now roughly one-third of what it was; everything above latitude 35° north and below latitude 35° south is encased in glacial ice. The geography drastically changed but little else did. Maniacs and evil had still tried to dominate those who wanted to be free.
Days became weeks, weeks became months and months turned into years as he battled and vanquished the enemies of humanity in every form and shape damnation threw at him. His last victory, almost seventeen years ago, granted him peace—a peace he had courted, a peace he had sought—one he never believed he would find.
That peace is about to end; Rourke's world is threatened again by forces he never conceived of. Are they so unpredictable—situations so dire—there is no way to "plan ahead?"

THE SURVIVALIST SAGA CONTINUES
by Sharon Ahern
Over the years, we’ve gotten a lot of people asking if THE SURVIVALIST story could continue since not all the threads have been woven shut. We were involved in so many other projects, that while the interest was there for us, the time required was not. One of the biggest hurdles involved was getting the rights back from the publisher in order to use the character names and events. This hurdle was not cleared for a matter of years but, it finally happened. The paperwork was put into the file cabinet and we went on with our other obligations.
About a year ago, Jerry and I started talking about what the Rourke Family could be doing now that their individual families have grown in size and much of their still existing world seems to have grown more peaceful. The Rourkes were just not the type to settle into a retirement village, playing Bingo on Friday nights. Danger would follow the “Family” wherever they chose to travel. Where will they go and what type of danger are we talking about? The new storyline has some villains from the past. No, Karamatsov is not returning. At least I don’t think so! There will be some new villains, catastrophes and some far out new acquaintances that will keep the Rourkes engaged in their usual endeavor—saving humanity. Add to the mix of mayhem, politics as usual, an ever growing family base, teenagers and family ties being stretched to the limit, some really cosmic intervention...
So, we’ve got the rights, lengthy storyline and a cast of thousands all ready to go. The decision was made to invite long time friend and book author, Bob Anderson, to co-write THE SURVIVALIST continuation with Jerry. Bob is a fine writer and has published books such as TAC Leader, What Honor Requires, Anderson's Rules and Grandfather Speaks. He is an expert on weaponry and military skills and is an accomplished public speaker. He has been an avid fan of the series for many years and is familiar with the characters and the numerous stories. New readers we hope will discover a truly unique family saga that has tried to prove over the years that morality and a sense of justice are not just words; they are a way of life. This will be an ongoing collaboration with Bob and we’re hoping that fans of THE SURVIVALIST will be pleased to continue reading the series and, to enjoy the further exploits of John Thomas Rourke and his family.

The Inheritors of Earth in Review
June 22, 2013
By Stephen J. Servello
"It's been almost 15 years since the last Survivalist novel was published (by Zebra) and for those longing for a continuation of the Rourke Family, "The Inheritors of Earth" is the answer to your dreams! Written by Jerry Ahern, Sharon Ahern and Bob Anderson, the action picks up shortly after events depicted in "Death Watch."
At that time, it seemed that all of the earthly menaces to the Rourkes and the United States have been overcome. Twice, the Russians had been bested and most recently, Nazis and an errant fault line that threatened to tear apart the very fabric of the planet. But that's all in the past and in the 30th volume of The Survivalist series, John Thomas Rourke is not allowed to rest on his laurels, despite being pivotal in overcoming all of the various obstacles faced by freedom-loving people everywhere.
Just what the new menaces are will be left for the reader to discern. Suffice to say, the Aherns and Bob Anderson have begun an almost Byzantine tale of intrigue, betrayal, violence and yes, discovery!
Fans of this series and the authors will be delighted to realize that the Rourke Family is just getting back into the swing of things and they are primed by book's end to team up with old allies and new friends. The foes are like-wise from the past and of the future.
In conclusion, "The Inheritors of Earth" continues the Ahern's saga of John Rourke in a manner that stays true to the first 30 books in both style, character development and plot mastery. Co-author Bob Anderson is a most welcome to this successful mix and I look forward to more of what he has planned for the Rourkes and Earth.
And just who are the inheritors of earth? The answer is both remarkable and satisfying. I urge all interested to find out for themselves!"

A fitting tribute...

"I just purchased The Survivalist: The Inheritors of the Earth last night and finished it this morning. As the final book that Jerry Ahern started before his untimely death, the story completed by his Wife Sharon and Bob Johnson is a fitting tribute to the man who brought us the Rourke family Saga as well as so many other characters too numerous to mention. Faced with some old enemies and deadly new enemies John Rourke and family unite once more to take up the cause of freedom in a world facing not only slavery and destruction. A new Ally is found as well, but even John Rourke isn't sure if they can be trusted. All in all I cannot wait for the next book in the ongoing saga of the Rourke family!"
