Charlie Claymore, a middle-aged cowhand, tries to be a friend and helper when his boss, George Bultman, invites him to be a fourth at dinner with pretty Amy Wilmot and her chaperone Aunt Celeste.  George wants Amy to see things his way, but Aunt Celeste is skeptical.  Charlie finds his own situation even more difficult when Aunt Celeste is found dead after a fall down the stairs and Amy begins to rebuff George.  Then Charlie is put to the test when Amy asks him to help her get away and George’s resentment turns deadly.
